Happiness is… (vol 16) & Laudato si’
Going for a trip to the weir, watching a pelican, going for a nice long walk along the river, watching construction on the new Kinsmen Park, then finishing with a trip to a playground.
Felicity tried to climb this little ladder thing; she got much further than I expected (up to where Spencer’s feet were – that’s where she stopped). She loves climbing. I do not love her climbing. I’m suspecting it might be a battle I lose. I lost that battle with Cassia when she became a climber. I don’t expect much different here.
Spending the morning outside enjoying the beauty of everything was the perfect way to celebrate Pope Francis’ encyclical that just came out today: Laudato si’. The name comes from a line in St. Francis of Assisi’s Canticle of the Creatures and means (roughly), “Praise be to you, my Lord”
There is a great summary here, though I forget who it was that linked to it so if you know, let me know, and I can give them their credit.
If you have the time, be sure to read the full document of Laudato si’.
Be sure to check out Fr. James Martin (SJ)’s 10 Thing You Need to Know about the Encyclical (video – 4:22 min long).
What’s your happiness today?
