7 Posts in 7 Days Blogging Challenge
Since I haven’t been extremely great at blogging these past few months, I thought I’d take part of the challenge that Jennifer Fulwiler invited her followers (minions?) to join in. I am a minion follower and want to put up seven posts this week, since I’ve been so drab lately.
This post actually centres around a bit of news – starting in August, I will officially be an entrepreneur! I am starting my own business, which has been a very big learning experience for me, a humbling journey, and exciting all at once.
The name of my business is Mama Knows Best Natural Products. Or just Mama Knows Best for shortsies. I make natural handcrafted body care products for women and children in the Saskatoon area. The products are organic and fair trade when possible, and completely awesome for your skin and body, baby’s too!
This is a journey that started roughly a year ago as a spark in my mind. I’ve been making handcrafted items for myself and my babes now for over 3 years – starting when Spencer was just new to the world! I’ve learned a lot and still have much more to learn, which always seems intimidating until I actually get into it. Since moving here from Ottawa, I have been encouraged by others to make such items available for them (read: ‘hey, can you make me some more of that awesome bum cream you gave me?’ types of encouragement).
I don’t know where this will take me, which is an unnerving feeling, but I’m confident that God’s Spirit has been involved in this discernment. It’s definitely a part-time business for me so that I can still take care of my two littles, whom I recently realised that I miss quite a bit when I’m away from them longer than a couple days a week. I’ve had a lot of help from friends and family to get to this point and Andy has been so extremely supportive of me pursuing this passion that I’ve discovered.
The website isn’t quite ready, but you can get a quick glimpse at it by clicking Mama Knows Best and seeing the brief preview. So if you’re in the Saskatoon area, be sure to peruse the items come August and gimme a quick email if you’d like something. I’ll also be doing home parties a couple times a month so people can try out items before buying. If you’re interested in hosting a home party, just let me know!
Have any of you been stretched recently into new areas?
