Easter Sunday part 2!

Happy May Day/JPII Beautification Day/Divine Mercy Easter Sunday!

It seems that I needed a good 3-day weekend from blogging in order to continue. Today and yesterday were absolutely beautiful days! It is currently 20C out and mostly sunny. Spencer and I took the opportunity to absorb the first Farmer’s Market of the season today, which was such a treat. While there were no vegetables or fruits (obviously), there were many meats, honeys, and cheeses available, so we picked up some breakfast sausage and a kilogram of local honey while surveying all the dogs that owners brought with them to browse. Spencer liked all the dogs. There were also horses pulling a wagon for rides, so Spencer was able to see horses up close for the first time. He tried to tell me they were dogs. I said they weren’t. So he just stared (I’m not sure if he’s even able to sign back ‘horse’ to me yet, but I’ll keep trying).

Thursday we had a crazy wind storm here; it cut power to a large number of households, including friends of ours. Kat and I were actually in the midst of trying to purchase some more fabric for making things (I for Spence pants and she for a purse) (it’s amazing how addicting sewing has suddenly become) when the power went out at the store. Boo! On the way home blasts of wind nearly pulled Spencer’s stroller into the street and tree branches littered pathways. It had been garbage & recycling pick up day in the area we were in (thank goodness pick up already happened); hardly any houses had recycle bins in front of them as we were heading home. They were, however, in the middle of the streets, in the boulevard, and generally causing mayhem everywhere. Crazy storm and I’m glad that it didn’t turn into a tornado or plough wind.

In other news, we’d like your prayers as we apply for jobs this week. We’re looking for parish ministry positions, currently there are two in Saskatoon and one in Humbolt which would work well for us if we were to get them. We are hoping and praying for the best; there aren’t many living-wage jobs in Canada in pastoral ministry positions, so this is a difficult thing for us right now.

Spencer has started signing ‘bird’ to us in the last week, and he’s been slowly learning the sign for ‘pain’ as well; I love that he’s keen on learning and communicating with us :). The baby sign language has been great so far; hopefully he’ll have enough vocab to get through the terrible twos without too many super duper quadruper meltdowns.

Be sure to check out the ‘Spencer’ gallery for more pictures! Here are a few highlights:

After a play session he ended up with both legs down one pajama pant leg…he wasn’t terribly impressed, but it sure was funny

Tortilla casserole…made much like lasagna, but with tortillas, salsa, sour cream, and Mexican beef & chorizo.

He soooo did not enjoy crawling on the grass…it took him quite awhile to be able to put his hands down on it. And all the while he made sure his face expressed how unsure and displeased he was about it.

Loving God through my family, friends, and interactions in my world.
