i would totally make and send cookies but it's a long way from sacramento, california to saskatoon and with the weather we're having, i don't trust the cookies to be ok when they'd get there.

Gee sounds like a lot going on there my friend! Can totally see why you are stressed :) Deep breaths. At least Spencer was sleeping while you wrote the post. Small mercies are what I try to grab at when I'm getting stressed over stuff. That would count as one :) Sending hugs across the waves xox

Jane, think of the beauty of the Easter Vigil just preceding the Exultat ... from the love of one God (Christ candle) to two candles (think of yourself and Andy), to yet another (that would be Spencer), and now, to this wee babe... The love of family and friends ... all from the one, spreading out, from one to another, till the whole church is bathed in candlelight!
Doug would "do" this simple ceremony when he got home with the sibling(s) right after they'd seen the new baby in the hospital with me ... the kids immediately "get it" intrinsically.
He'd have them on his lap with them ... and they would light a candle for God, and one for mommy and daddy, and hey -one just for (each of) them ... and, yup, even one for the new baby....
And, they now had a special little job to do ... if they were feeling left out or overwhelmed (or whatever) with the hustle and bustle of extra feedings, and diapers, and new routines .... their job was to ask for a "candle meal"!
Brilliant! Immediate feedback to us grownups -- Someone is feeling left out -- and we'd have a candle-lit snack or a candle-lit breakfast or supper, and regroup ourselves and our relationships with each other.
An old Marriage Encounter banner said it best: "love isn't love till you give it away".
Long distance hugs!

Jane, you will be blown away by how much you will love this new bundle of joy. And this one will become your baby and suddenly Spencer will be your big boy. For me, having my third, you're right, I know that I will love this one just as much. I'm now beginning to see Graeme as no longer my baby, but my little helper. He's so excited and elated that he is getting what he asked for...a baby sister!!!! And for Monica, this is old news. She's been there done that. Oldest siblings are definitely unique. :)

Names I can't help you with. We only had a girl name picked and thankfully that is where we stop. :) Good luck!!!

Hi Jane, nice to meet you here in blog land! The seedling sprouts look so nice. I hope to keep up to watch how they grow. ... I NEVER was able to get lavendar to sprout from from seed, so I gave in and bought a couple small plants and they have flourished beautiful in the flower beds. They smell good too.
Blessings!

Fair play to you kiddo! I went nuts with my first ever garden last year - planted 12 brussels sprouts plants, 6 cabbage plants and 6 purple sprouting broccoli along with lettuce, sage, parsely, rosemary and a window box with 4 strawberry plants. We got a huuuuuuuge downpour about a week after and the only thing that survived was the strawberries and there were only 2 berries! Hopefully this year I have more luck. Thinking about doing more brussels sprouts and lettuce but in pots this time :) Looking forwad to how your garden grows :)
